FITkidz Academy


Our Exclusive Academy runs termly classes at DW Fitness First Inverness on Sunday's from 11.00 am - 1.00 pm. Classes vary on a weekly basis, covering topics such as FITkidz Fitness, FITkidz Nutrition, FITkidz Wellbeing & Rainbow Yoga. The FITkidz Academy is aimed at primary school ages 5 - 11 years.  Below is a sample of some of the classes covered at the Academy.
 
FITkidz Fitness Our fun-based fitness equipment classes include the use of bounce trampolines, bosu balls, balance and co-ordination equipment and more activities meant to inspire activity and improve general fitness levels. Children learn about keeping their bodies fit, strong and healthy whilst training their minds for a long, fulfilling future. Additionally, all children attending the academy will have an option to sign up and participate in the 'RUN 4 FITKIDZ' team at the Baxter's River Ness 5k in September 2019. We will work with the children to be fit enough to enter and run this 5k race as part of the academy classes and they’ll receive a 'RUN 4 FITKIDZ' t-shirt to wear on the day of the event. Besides enjoying the health benefits of regular exercise, kids who are physically fit are better able to handle physical and emotional challenges.
 
 
FITkidz Wellbeing – Classes are CREATIVE – IMAGINATIVE – INSPIRING – FUN

Wellbeing classes will include a mixture of activities to stimulate your child socially, emotionally and cognitively, in turn boosting their self esteem and confidence through creativity and role play. Each class will carefully be structured to cover your child's individual needs. children will learn about their emotions, expressing themselves through fun drama based workshops. Our wellbeing course of classes combine a mixture of FITkidz Posture, Balance & Flexibility, mindfulness, resilient kidz and healthy living. Our unique mindfulness stations teach how to be in the here and now and how to focus attention with kindness and curiosity. Classes are packed with lots of fun and variety leaving the children feeling uplifted and energised.
 
 

FITkidz Nutrition Our in-house dietician will run FITkidz Cooking and Nutrition classes as part of our programme-based sessions. To highlight the importance of the 5-a-day rule, we will help children prepare for themselves a healthy food platter to eat at the end of their session, encouraging them to sample new foods. This is a lovely way to end the session, emphasizing social interaction as they learn how to set a table, enjoy eating together, using their manners and talk about their day. Children will also learn how to make their own smoothies, bake healthier muffins and learn basic cooking skills. We will also show the children how to create their own recipes.  Each week children will take part in our 'FITkidz Smoothie Bike' challenge, to encourage, inspire and motivate children to develop healthy lifestyle habits.
